Sachin Tendulkar

“ I’M  FOCUSING NOW ON HOW I CAN GET TO THE NEXT LEVEL AS A BATSMAN. HOW CAN I GET EVEN MORE COMPETITIVE? HOW CAN I GET EVEN MORE CONSISTENT? HOW CAN I GET BETTER? ”

Undoubtedly, one of the few people who I look up to is, Sachin Tendulkar. Starting his career at the mere age of 16, he managed to charm everyone with his moves and skills associated with the game. His innate ability to play the game effortlessly and excellently displayed when he faced Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis to rise gloriously as absolute champion. Soon enough, he started breaking all the records that there are. His perseverance and the will to achieve and excel peaked through his eyes and, of course, his performance. His test hundred in Perth, Australia were proved to be the fastest in the world, yet another record that Tendulkar has set.

His confidence and dedication towards his game were exemplary and inspirational. Having seen him throughout his journey from the bottom to top, the start to the last, I know the kind of days he has spent registering his name in the books of legendary people in the world. He has been a source of constant inspiration for me. His Sunday duel with the famous cricketer Shane Warne at the Dusty Indian Wickets in 1998 proved to be a symbol of his endless talent and relentless power to drive his game right!

He is nothing short of a master in his craft and he is someone who has never failed to prove and outdo himself each time he appears on the field. He is a living example of how low-key hard work and hustle eventually brings to you what you have been looking for. A notion about him that made rounds in the media and general public as well was that India loses each time he scores exceptionally. However, statistics say that out of the 49 matches that India played when Sachin scored his highest, it won as many as 33 matches and lost only 16 matches. Usually, every public figure faces such backlash and criticism, but how he handles all this was amazing. He never let defensive words come out of his mouth but instead let his bat do the talking.

He has always been someone who supports the team and works towards the coherent development of the team. His unparalleled dedication towards the team and the “show up no matter what” attitude has brought him to where he is today. His never say die spirit to perform regardless of what he faces in life was shown when he performed like a total maestro during his back spasms and even when he was a part of his father’s funeral three days before his match.

His confidence has stemmed from the hard work that he has done all his life, starting from a tender age. His attacking and aggressive on-field style has always helped the national team perform better and rise victoriously as a prodigy. His contribution to the history of the world of Indian Cricket has been instrumental, and he is nothing less than an asset to the country. With his hard work and passionate will, he has grown to be someone who has only brought achievements home.
