Unless the farmers of Marwar are content, the real development of our area is not possible. The Green Revolution took place in India in 1966 – 67 when our farmers, under the guidance of agriculture scientists abandoned traditional farming practices to take up modern technology leading to increase in production. Today the country needs another green revolution that will transform the new age farms of our time. I feel very sad when our farmers lose their hard work in the fields to unseasonal rains or when insurance providers fail to provide accurate compensation. We must come out of this vicious cycle and must become independent in our farming practices. We must ensure that our farmers don’t have to depend on anyone for compensation incase of any natural calamity. The youth should also try and understand the best farming practices that can help their families move ahead in life.
