Bullet Train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad

Friends, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Railway Minister Shri. D V Sadananda Gowda have announced the running of a Bullet Train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

This train, which will cover the distance between the two cities at over 300 km/hr will be a lot faster than the fastest train running currently at 120-130 km/hr and the fastest train that has undergone a trail run between Delhi and Agra at 160km/hr.

Even today, when Indian Railways has the second longest track length in the world, we lag behind substantially in terms of speed and safety. Where trains in Italy, France, China and Japan have already hit the speeds of 400-500km/hr, we are still unable to provide a good train experience to most of our population.

A lot of people have thus been asking me if indeed this bullet train was necessary for the country at this time?

I believe that this project will bring about a technological revolution in the country, a project that can only be finished if the govt. and Industry collaborate.

There was a time when our investment in space projects was questioned, however today we are proud of our scientists who have sent the Mangalyaan and the Chandrayaan into space and have achieved recognition across the world.

In the same way, I am hopeful of The Indian Railways being successful in achieving this feat after their stupendous success in the Jammu Katra Rail Project, the Delhi Metro and the Konkan Rail Projects.

I am also sure that this project will not effect the major schemes that are for the common man, but would rather provide technical assistance and improved know-how to the entire network. Jai Hind
